Rabindra Jayanti by Udaan children at Jan Seva
Guru Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday is celebrated ceremoniously by Bengalis across the world by holding a number of cultural programs in his memory like plays, dance dramas, poetries and songs, all written and composed by the legend himself. In Kolkata, the festival is celebrated as Poncheeshe Boishakh and various cultural activities are held at Jorasanko Thakurbari (Tagore’s ancestral home) and Rabindra Sadan (cultural centre). Shantiniketan in Birbhum, West Bengal also hosts grand celebrations to celebrate the birthday of its founder.
The occasion was celebrated at Jan Seva too where children from Udaan and ECCEC performed in the presence of honourable board-members and colleagues from SICW.
Udaan children enthralled the audience with a few group performances. They sang the popular Rabindra sangeet ‘Aay tobe sahochori….”, recited “Damodar Seth” and danced to “Khoro bayu boy bege….”. Each of them looked so colourful and enthusiastic as they took to the stage.
It was a fun-filled and enjoyable experience for all present at the event and we look forward to many such in future.
