Celebrating Joy and Team Spirit: Sport's Day 2025 at Jan Seva

On 24th January 2025, the Society For Indian Children's Welfare - Jan Seva organized its much-anticipated Sport's Day, a day filled with energy, excitement, and smiles from children, staff, and volunteers alike. The children from both UDAAN and ECCEC had been eagerly preparing for the event since December 2024, practicing their skills and participating in various rehearsals. Their excitement was palpable, as they competed not only for fun but for the thrill of winning prizes.

One of the standout moments of the day was the Drill event, where children of all abilities came together in a beautiful display of unity and inclusion. The drill, a collaborative performance, featured both specially-abled children and their peers from the mainstream group. It was a heartwarming sight, highlighting the power of integration through sport and play.

The day’s events included a wide variety of races and activities, including Relay Races, Fruit Race, Chocolate Race, Sum Race, Fancy Dress competition, Obstacle Race, Sack Race, Reverse Race, and many more. These events allowed the children to showcase their talents and enjoy the thrill of competition, all while learning the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.

The excitement didn’t stop with the children. The staff and adult students also participated in the games after the children’s events, showcasing their own competitive spirit. The winter sun added to the cheerfulness of the day, as the entire community enjoyed the warmth of the sunny morning while cheering on the participants.

The event was graced by the presence of our esteemed Board Members, who offered their encouragement and support right from the opening ceremony. Our Chairperson, Mrs. Jyothi Bhatia; Secretary, Mrs. Sheela Adige; Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Shirin Dastur; and Board Member, Mrs. Sarita Dhir, were all present to cheer on the children and staff. The occasion was further honored by the presence of Dr. Sumana Sur (In-house Gynaecologist) and Mrs. Manisha Brahma.

The day’s program was masterfully facilitated by Project Coordinator Mrs. Twisha Ganguli and UDAAN Coordinator Mrs. Anindita Sengupta, who also took on the role of judges for various races. They were joined by the board members in distributing prizes to the winners, adding a sense of joy and celebration to the event.

In addition to the children's events, separate games were organized for the teachers and caregivers, who also joined in the fun. The adult program students had a blast participating in the Spoon Race and Pairing Game. The day came to a delightful conclusion when the ladies’ team unexpectedly took home the prizes, proving that enthusiasm and teamwork were the real winners of the day.

Sport's Day 2025 was a wonderful celebration of community, inclusivity, and the pure joy of participating in physical activities. The smiles, laughter, and excitement shared throughout the day will surely be remembered by everyone involved as a highlight of the year.
