Celebrating Inclusion and Equality on World Disability Day at Jan Seva

World Disability Day, also known as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, is observed annually on December 3rd. The day aims to raise awareness about disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities (PWDs). It serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by PWDs, including stigma, discrimination, and lack of accessibility, and emphasizes the importance of disability-inclusive development for a sustainable future.

This year, Udaan celebrated the occasion at Jan Seva with a special event attended by our esteemed board members, children from the ECCEC program, and staff from both Jan Seva and SICW. The celebration was a beautiful display of inclusion, featuring performances by children from Udaan and ECCEC, symbolizing the true essence of unity and togetherness.

The event began with a heartfelt performance of the Udaan song, followed by a recitation and group songs. The highlight of the celebration was the integrated dance performances, which included children from ECCEC, Udaan, and Umeed, showcasing the power of inclusion. The day concluded with a supported dance presentation by the Udaan children, guided by their teachers, leaving everyone filled with joy and admiration.

This integrated program served as a powerful reminder of the importance of promoting equality, inclusion, and accessibility for PWDs, while also celebrating their invaluable contributions to society. The event was enjoyed and applauded by all those present, making the day a truly special and uplifting occasion.
