Basant Panchami Celebration with Saraswati Puja at Jan Seva

On the morning of 2nd February 2025, Jan Seva was filled with joy and festivity as the much-awaited Basant Panchami celebration took place. The occasion marked the beginning of the Spring season and was highlighted by the grand Saraswati Puja, a tradition to honor the Goddess of Knowledge. This beautiful event was organized by the ECCEC (Early Childhood Care and Education Center) and Udaan teams of Jan Seva, with the enthusiastic participation of children, adults, and staff alike.
The Saraswati Puja was attended by the children of ECCEC, Udaan, the adult students of the Computer Literacy Program, the Adult Literacy Program, and the Vocational Training Program. The entire team at Jan Seva put in their best efforts to make the day a memorable one. From decorations and puja arrangements to preparing the bhog (offering), welcoming visitors, and organizing the special "Hathe Khori" ceremony, every detail was beautifully executed.
A highlight of the day was the "Hathe Khori" ceremony, during which 16 students took part, marking a significant milestone in their educational journey. The children, dressed in vibrant, traditional attire, made the day even more special. Many of them adhered to the tradition of wearing yellow, the color symbolic of Basant Panchami, with the boys donning yellow or white kurtas and the girls looking elegant in ghagras or sarees.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including our Chairperson Ms. Jyothi Bhatia, her brother Mr. Gopal Bhatia and his wife, our Vice Chairperson Mrs. Shirin Dastur and her family, and Board Member Mrs. Sarita Dhir. Mrs. Rajashree Biswas, Principal of Garden High School, also attended the puja, along with many local ex-students who joined the "Pushpanjali" ceremony, bringing a warm connection to the community.
The spirit of Basant Panchami was felt throughout the day as the puja proceedings took place, and everyone gathered to share the delicious khichuri bhog. All the adult program students actively participated, contributing to the success of the event.
The day ended with an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude, as prayers were offered to Goddess Saraswati for wisdom, knowledge, and a brighter future for all. The celebration was further enriched by the presence of Mrs. Manisha Brahma from SICW, who added to the warmth and success of the occasion.
It was a day filled with love, learning, and community spirit, as Jan Seva came together to honor the Goddess of Learning and usher in the vibrant season of Spring.
