A Heartwarming Diwali Celebration at Jan Seva: Fostering Unity and Joy
This year, Diwali was celebrated in grand style at Jan Seva, with the participation of staff, children, and adult students, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. On the 30th of October 2024, a Rangoli competition was organized in the morning, which became a highlight of the festivities. Three teams participated in the competition: the teachers of the UDAAN program, students from the adult literacy program, and the teachers of the ECCEC program. After much creativity and effort, the teachers of the UDAAN program emerged victorious, winning the first prize.
Each team showcased their talent, creating beautiful Rangoli designs on the hall floor using flower petals, powdered colors, and even green leaves for an innovative touch. The vibrant artwork added to the festive spirit of the day.
Later, the children gathered to celebrate by burning crackers under the guidance of their teachers and caregivers. The special needs children participated alongside their peers from the general student body, marking the occasion as a wonderful integration event. Both groups of children enjoyed the cracker display and clapped with excitement, fostering a sense of inclusion and joy. The crackers used were environmentally friendly, as they were from the GO GREEN Diwali collection approved by the Government of India.
The celebration was graced by the presence of our Chairperson, Mrs. Jyothi Bhatia, Vice Chairperson Mrs. Shirin Y Dastur, and several board members. They gave out prizes to the winning Rangoli team after their careful judgment. Special guests from the SICW Head Office, including Mrs. Sarita Dhir, Dr. Sumana Sur, and Mrs. Alpana Kumar, also joined us for the celebration.
To make the day even more special, food packets were distributed to all staff by Mrs. Jyothi Bhatia. The celebration concluded on a high note with the children enjoying a delicious non-vegetarian meal, adding a delightful touch to the festive spirit. The Diwali celebration at Jan Seva was a day of joy, unity, and inclusion, leaving everyone with happy memories to cherish.
