Saraswati Puja Celebrations at Jan Seva

The Children, staff & guests of Jan Seva celebrated Saraswati Puja with color, gaiety, fun and frolic! Most of the staff and children were dressed in yellow, signifying the colour of Spring 'Vasant Panchami ' or 'Vasant Utsav'.

The Puja was performed by the purohit (priest) and everyone took the blessings of Goddess Saraswati who is the Hindu deity of wisdom, knowledge and education.

No festival is complete without a feast. So after the distribution of 'Prasad' or fruits and sweets that were offered to the Goddess a delicious lunch was served. Lunch which included Khichidi (made out of rice and split green dal), alu dum (potato curry), tomato chutney (tomato salsa), papadum (made out of peeled black gram flour) and payasam (made out of rice, milk and jaggery as sweet dish) were served to all present for this auspicious occasion.
