Saraswati Puja at Jan Seva

Saraswati Puja was celebrated in Jan Seva with colour and gaiety with the majority of our Staff and children dressed in bright yellow coloured sarees and clothes, respectively.

This Hindu festival is devoted to the Goddess of Education, Mother Saraswati. This festival is also called 'Vasant Panchami' since it is celebrated during the spring season or' Vasant Ritu'!

A scrumptious lunch was served to all our Staff and children which included hot Khichhidi (rice and lentils cooked together with vegetable), mixed vegetable curry made from vegetables grown in the 'Jan Seva' vegetable garden, tomato & date fruit chutney (salsa), crispy papad (wafers) and Indian sweet!

All present, thoroughly enjoyed and had a joyous time, though who could not attend were missed. Mrs. Sarita Dhir, Alpana and Akbari from SICW were also present and participated the program.

Our special child Debangshu Roy (cerebral palsy- athetoid) wrote on his slate for the first time and was blessed by the priest.

Below are some more pictures from the day.
